Summary Report on Urodynamic Workshop
Urology Unit, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya with Laborie successful completed a 2.5-day practice-based course on Urodynamics between the 7th to 9th October 2016. There were a total of 50 participants (Urologists, gynaecologists, nurses and other health care professionals). This was an international training course comprised of hands on practice with urodynamic systems, lectures, discussion and observation of patient examinations.
The course objective was to train the attendees on the knowledge of urodynamic investigations and curve interpretation in order to improve the performance of examinations in daily practice. The participants were able to familiarise themselves with the concept and skills behind urodynamics with the Laborie and MMS measurement systems. This also includes live demonstrations and hands-on training.
The course covered various key topics related to urodynamics such as common indications for performing urodynamics, basic principles and medical indications, application of urodynamics in clinical practice. Furthermore, protocols used in urodynamics following good urodynamics practice were covered. Hands-on training in using Goby/Solar Blue systems and catheters as well as editing and reporting generation were given. Analysis and curve interpretation of real patients’ cases were discussed. Most interesting a live demonstration of urodynamics examinations (Aquarius XT) and Natural filling ambulatory urodynamics (Luna) was shown at this workshop.
